Main Tour Loop
Running The Tour Forward
The Main Sylamore Tour Loop is 72 miles long. The way Points along the map are in
clockwise order. The "loop" is a connection of three smooth paved State
maintained highways. It takes about 2 hours to drive.
Eastern Leg - Highway 5 South
- The tour starts at Point 1, then follows Arkansas State Highway 5 south for 30 miles.
Highway 5 ends at Point 19 of the main tour loop, but continues for five more miles if
you take the side trip into the town of Mountain View.
Southern Leg - Highway 14 -
From Point 22 to Point 28 the tour runs west on Arkansas State Highway 14 for 16
miles to the intersection of Hwy 14 and Hwy 341. At Point 23 is the intersection of Hwy 14 and Hwy 87, which is a 10 mile
conduit to the town of Mountain View.
Western Leg - Highway 341
(aka Push Mountain Road) - At Point 28 the tour heads north up Hwy 341 for 26 miles to Point
43, which is the end of the tour.
From Point 43 you can turn left (west) onto Highway 201 and arrive in
Mountain Home, Arkansas in ten minutes. Turn right onto Highway 201, go a mile, and you
will be at the intersection of Hwy 5 South and Hwy 201. Turning left here brings you back
to Point
1 in two miles. Turning right puts
you back on the main tour loop at Point 3.
Running The Tour Backward
If your goal is ATV trails, Push Mountain Road, or any of the trails on Hwy 341 (aka Push
Mountain Road), then follow the tour backwards. Turn onto Hwy 201 at the intersection of
Hwy 5 and Hwy 201. Go one mile, turn left onto Push Mountain Road at Point
43. You are now running the tour
backward.
