Biking & Hiking Trail - A Two
Mile Bike or Hike Between Points 17 and Point 16
A trailhead for the Scrappy Mountain
Loop of the extensive Syllamo Mountain Bike and Hiking Trail. See Syllamo
Mountain Bike Trails for details. This is
the main trailhead for the Syllamo Mountain Bike Trail System.

Look for this sign and gravel drive beside Highway 5
This is the second of two spots where the
Syllamo mountain biking and hiking trail crosses Hwy 5 (the other is up Hwy 5, 1.3 miles
at Point 16).
A short well maintained gravel drive puts you in the parking lot, which has a Porta-Potty.
If you hike or bike the trail on the
parking lot side of Hwy 5, you'll come out in two miles at
Point 16.
These trails are also an excellent place for birders.
In the other direction the trail runs along
the driveway then crosses Hwy 5. The Scrappy Mountain Loop runs in a 12-mile circle. It is
a tough trail in spots and is recommended only for those who are physically fit. For more
mountain bike trails see Point 18 and Point 24
October 1 through February 28 of any year,
it is a good idea to wear florescent orange as bow hunting season is open during that
time. Modern gun is open during mid November.
For Current Trail Information &
Maps - Before you leave to visit this area, call the Ranger Station to make sure
the trails you want to use are open. They are closed from time to time for various
reasons, usually due to logging or a controlled burn.

Between Points 17
and 18
A short distance after you pass Point 17 there is a pullout

it's not a big scenic view. It is a good place to pull over if you need a break, or to fix
a load, etc.
