Maps - The Ranger Station is about the best place to get maps. Some maps, like the Syllamo Mountain Bike Trails, are free. Others, like the topos we mention in this site, are usually less than $10 each, plus shipping.

Weekend Phone Calls
Weekends calls are taken at Blanchard Springs Caverns. Call 870-757-2211 Saturdays and Sundays. Blanchard is open every day 9:30am to 6pm, from April through October. From November through March it's closed Mondays and Tuesdays, as well as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Address is NF 54, Forest Road 1110A

Before you plan a trip to the Sylamore Area call the Ranger Station to ask if there are any closed areas you plan to visit. This is an active forest under active management, which means logging activity, controlled burns, or other activities may not make a particular area safe.

You can also request maps of the horse trails,  mountain bike trails, and other publications. Staff will also answer questions about regulations enforced within their jurisdiction.

Visit The Ranger Station - It's open to the public Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm. It's closed Saturday and Sunday, and all holidays. Lots of good information, much of it free. A good place to buy maps. Get information on rules and regulations for what you can and cannot do in the National Forest. Information on Barkshed Campground, Gunner Pool Campground, Sylamore Shooting Ranges, Syllamo Mountain Bike Trails, Leatherwood Wilderness, Blanchard Springs Recreation Area, Horse Trails, Hiking Trails, or anything else you need to know about.

Directions To Ranger Station - Main Street in Mountain Home is also Hwys 14, 5, 9, and 66. The Ranger Station is a mile east of the intersection of Hwys 5, 9, and 14 at the Days Inn and Exxon Station. Look for their yellow sign, and their Smokey The Bear Fire Danger Level sign.
