Directions - Look for a green and white street sign saying Merrill Ridge Road, which is 0.2 of a mile from the Brush Creek Trailhead.

Where Does It Go? - A typical Ozark back country dirt road that dead-ends in 6 miles at a short hiking trail.

Special Attraction - Cliffty Canyon

What Is It Like? - Merrill Ridge Road dead ends 6 miles down from Hwy 341. Several spur roads go to food plots. At the back or sides of food plots on the south side of the road look closely for unmarked old road beds. Follow these and you'll end up at Cole Fork Creek. At the end of the road look for a metal gate. Look for a trail here. It's an easy hike down, but you'll huff and puff on the way back up! Hike this trail down the ridge for 0.3 mile and you come to Cole Fork Creek. Hike to your right and in a little over a half mile you'll come to Cole Fork Road. Hike to your left and you'll soon come to where Cole Fork Creek flows into Steward Fork Creek. This is the headwater of North Sylamore Creek. You are in a very special spot in the Ozarks! It is called the Cliffty Canyon Botanical Special Interest Area. There are some rare and unusual plants growing here because of the unique soils of the area. It is against the law to remove plants, or any part of any plant. The ATV trails running beside the creeks are definitely not supposed to be here. While it is legal to walk them, it is not legal to run them with ATVs.
