About 1.3 miles from Norfork look on your left for bright red roofs over the gas island and store. A convenience store, diner, and gas station.

Hughes is an independent Mom & Pop store and restaurant loaded with snacks, sundries, and beverages. They make deli sandwiches to order with friendly service. This is a fun place to eat and visit with locals. Open 7 days a week, 6am to 7pm weekdays, 7am to 7pm Saturdays, 7am to 5pm on Sundays. Call 870-499-7353.

Road Notes:
Hwy 177 - Soon after Hughes Store you'll see Hwy 177 turn off to the right. This is a short stretch that runs down to the White River where it dead ends. Various highways in the area are broken up by several miles between sections. It is hard to associate this section with the road that goes across the Norfork Dam. This section of Hwy 177 is not part of the tour.

Historical Site - On Hwy 5 you'll drive past a cemetery and an old church built in 1886 named the Old Historic Galatia Church.
