Syllamo Mountain Bike Trail - Points 16, 17, 18, & 24

The Syllamo Mountain Bike Trail is an interconnecting loop mountain biking trail system (also for hiking) that's 50 miles long. Over the next several years the U.S. Forest Service will be adding more trails. Right now there are five trails and four trailheads.

For trailhead locations and Information Visit
Point 16 - This is where the Scrappy Mountain Loop crosses Hwy 5. You can start or stop here. It's also a nice place to go for a walk in the woods along a creek.
Point 17 - This is the main Syllamo Trailhead
Point 18 - Takes you to three more trailheads on Green Mountain Road
Point 24 - The trailhead at Blanchard Springs Caverns

Trails are all well marked with Carsonite posts. Each trail is color coded. You'll see the color on a 2-inch square sticker on each post. The map you get from the Ranger Station shows the trails and their colors.

Use Fees -  All trailheads have a vault toilet, a gravel parking lot with room for about 20 cars, and a bulletin board with trail use information. There is a $3.50 day use fee. Find the envelope at the bulletin board. Tear off the stub and put it on your car's dash board so that rangers can see it. Put your money in the envelope and drop it in the self-pay container. The fees are used locally to maintain the trailheads.

For Current Trail Information & Maps - Before you leave to visit this area, call the Ranger Station to make sure the trails you want to use are open. They are closed from time to time for various reasons, usually due to logging or a controlled burn. Request the Syllamo Mountain Bike Trail map, which is well worth having.
