Village Of Fifty Six

With a population of around 100 people, there's not much visible here except Fifty Six General Store and Cody's Restaurant. It's a central gathering point for the folks who live out in the country. Over the years Fifty Six has been a favorite with us because of the laid back friendly locals who provide excellent service. It's also a favorite spot for tourists and people camping nearby in the Sylamore Creek National Scenic River Corridor. Fifty Six General Store - A deli, snacks, ice, beverages, pizza, gasoline, highway diesel. We've stopped here for many years. It was called Hacker's until summer of 2011, and many years before Hacker's it was Branscum's. By any name, this little store has been an area mainstay for many years. Though way out in the middle of the Ozark National Forest area, Cody's is almost always busy.

Cody's Restaurant & Cabins - Another place we've eaten at for years. American menu, good food at great prices. Great homemade pies. For us it's always a toss-up between Anglers Restaurant and Cody's. Fifty Six Work Station - This is not open to the public. Used by the U.S. Forest Service as their equipment yard and garage.
